The five members of ViperLove, who met at Culcairn’s Billabong High School, received their first big break from Indonesian company First Blast Records which has organised the tour.
The group describes its music as “dirty pub rock mixed with heavy rock” and will perform seven shows over 10 days around Jakarta and Bandung from January 8.
Bass player and backup vocalist James McRorie said while the band was now performing internationally, it would still be based in Albury.
“It’s a big opportunity and we are really stoked we have it,” he said.
“If all goes well, hopefully we’ll pick up a record deal next year and that’s where everybody in the band wants to go.
“We are pushing to also tour as much of Australia as we can.”
The band has been professionally performing together for five years and the tour coincides with the release of their new EP Colour.
ViperLove, formerly War Horse, was renamed to create a new identity.
“We had a lot of competition when it came to the Google search because there was a movie and other bands,” McRorie said.
“We changed our name to ViperLove earlier this year because it had a dirty rock sound to it and is really unique and we consider our band a bit different.”
