Broadbent, who played for Tatura last season, told the Alpine Saints yesterday he could not commit due to personal reasons.
The eight-time best and fairest winner was set to travel from Melbourne with fellow recruit Mitchell Hough.
In a statement released last night, the Alpine Saints wished Broadbent the best in the future.
“Shannon has been upfront and honest and due to personal reasons can no longer commit to the travel from Melbourne,” the statement said.
