Dubbo’s loss is Albury’s gain after arrangements were sorted to bring in extra lighting for the April 4 match between Manly and Canberra.
Lavington Oval has previously hosted NRL trials and was also the venue for a City-Country origin fixture in 2011.
But no game on the Border has been bigger than the one that will be played for competition points.
It’s the realisation of a dream for Mike Eden, who hasn’t slept all that much in the past week.
It’s a great result and reward for effort by Mr Eden, along with the hard work of others including Albury mayor Kevin Mack, council staff and the Albury Thunder.
The Easter weekend match has been underwritten to the tune of $180,000, but confidence is high the event will be a financial success.
The Border loves its sport and with a game on offer that actually “means something”, it would be a pretty safe bet to say the fans will be there in their droves.
