Twelve bowlers have been selected for net sessions with the Irish and South Africans this weekend, but there is some doubt whether the scheduled Saturday session will go ahead.
CAW president Michael Erdeljac said the deadline was Thursday afternoon.
“The Irish are expected to make a decision about 4.30pm and when the ICC knows, we’ll know,” he said.
“At the moment it looks like the Saturday is 50-50 but the Sunday is definitely going ahead.”
Belvoir’s first day domination of Wodonga Raiders means both Tallangatta and Lavington need to win to book their spots in the finals.
Tallangatta’s captain and prolific runscorer in the past three games, Mat Armstrong, said he wouldn’t be available for the Saturday session in Canberra.
“I’ll be travelling up on the Saturday night — our focus is chasing down Albury’s 265 and knowing we have to win to guarantee a spot in the finals,” he said.
Lavington coach Robbie Mackinlay is balancing the opportunity for one of his young guns with the knowledge they have to win to guarantee a spot in the finals.
“If the Saturday session goes ahead we will lose Will Heriot defending 256 against Wodonga,” he said.
“But the flip side of that is this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these guys and we’re not about to deny anyone a chance at that.”
At the top of the table, East Albury have three of the 12 bowlers booked for the practice sessions.
“It is such a great opportunity for these guys, but at one stage we feared we were going to lose all three who have been selected,” coach Cameron Diffey said.
“But now I think we would lose one at the most if it goes ahead on Saturday.”
