The competition’s leading runscorer notched up his third century of the season against Tallangatta on Saturday, but admitted it was a bittersweet feeling knowing the club was out of top-six contention.
He has made scores of 102, 145 and 109.
The 26-year-old said yesterday Albury was eager to finish the season on the winning note after posting 265 against the Bushies.
“It was good to make some runs,” Brown said.
“I rode my luck a bit early.
“It’s just disappointing that we won’t be playing finals as I think we have a pretty good side.
“Some weeks we are on and some we aren’t.”
Brown rated his century behind his 109 against Lavington at Lavington Oval in round 2.
He arrived at the crease that day with Albury reeling at 5-104.
The former Hume Cricket Association player couldn’t put his finger on why the runs had flowed since he took over the captaincy.
“I’m not really sure,” he said.
“I just try to stay relaxed.
“It’s good to have a chat when you are batting as well.”
Brown, who is also in CAW’s top 10 wicket-takers with 20 scalps, is confident Albury is heading in the right direction despite being winless since November 22.
“I think we have come a fair way this season, although we hadn’t made over 150 for a while before Saturday,” he said.
“We need to get better across the board.
“You have got to look at the positives though and that’s what we are doing.”
