Jacinta Lekic was the partner of Mr Hargrave and had been living with him for four or five months at his Vickers Road house.
The other woman was Olivia Bromham, a heavy user of ice who was a regular visitor to Mr Hargrave’s residence.
Bromham has been remanded in custody and appeared in prison greens to give her evidence in Albury Local Court.
They were among several witnesses called on the second day of a committal hearing involving Campbell Hart, 29, who has been charged with the murder of Mr Hargrave on October 29.
Bromham said a short time before the shooting in a cinema room she had received a phone call from a Corowa man named Mick.
He had offered to sell her a pen gun for $350 and Bromham mentioned the conversation in front of Hart and Mr Hargrave.
Mr Hargrave told her not to associate with such people.
Hart produced a pen gun from his right pants pocket and said: “I have got one”.
He was asked if it was loaded and said: “No”.
Bromham was waiting to fix a laptop computer for Mr Hargrave, who was on his phone in the cinema room with Hart also there.
“The door shut. It slammed actually,” Bromham said.
She heard a loud bang and Hart walked out into the hallway.
“He looked really scared and frightened,” Bromham said.
Before leaving the house, Hart said: “Luke just took a shot at me”.
Bromham said she made a statement to police on October 30, but refused to sign it until November 28.
“I was under the influence of ice when I made the statement,” she said.
Ms Lekic made statements to police on October 30 and another the following day.
She said Mr Hargrave told her on the night of the shooting: “Check out Cam’s new toy.”
Ms Lekic said in her first statement the pen gun was shown to her the night before the shooting, but in the second statement that changed to the night it happened.
“I was a bit confused. My boyfriend had just been shot,” Ms Lekic said when confirming the second statement was correct.
She was asked whether Hart seemed paranoid on the night of the shooting and she said: “No, he seemed fine”.
The hearing is expected to finish today.
