Border residents helped remove rubbish at several sites, the Wodonga Girl Guides taking to Sumsion Gardens.
Cameron Orr, 9, said the volunteers had found a wide range of strange items.
“We can take care of nature and the world,” she said.
“This is probably the third time I’ve done it.
“The weirdest thing we found was a dead snake, it was absolutely disgusting.”
The group worked at the site for several hours, and weren’t put off by yesterday’s early wet weather.
One of the older volunteers joked that they would almost have enough parts to build a car.
More than 6000 sites nationwide were registered for Clean Up Australia Day this year.
