Moran thrived on the big stage of the Albury Carnival of Cups meeting to land the personal best haul.
His tally included Danielles Pride ($6.90), Hes Okey Dokey ($1.30-fav), Glenferrie Boss ($1.40-fav), Chumlee ($1.30-fav) and Regalramapleasure ($2).
Moran said he could have had an even bigger night except for Grande Anse ($3) galloping on the home turn in the String Of Pearls when travelling as the likely winner.
“It should probably have been six winners really,” Moran said.
“Grande Anse wasn’t on her best behaviour and for some reason didn’t handle the home turn, which has cost us the race.
“There is little doubt she wins the race if she doesn’t gallop.
“But it was still a huge thrill to land five winners.
“I thought before the meeting if everything went to plan and I had a bit of luck, I could end up with four or five winners.”
Moran partnered Hes Okey Dokey and Chumlee for leading Victorian trainer Amanda Turnbull.
Turnbull wasn’t able to make the trek to Albury with commitments at yesterday’s bumper Interdominion meeting at Menangle.
He also picked up drives for Albury trainer Chris Chant (Danielles Pride), Wayne Potter (Glenferrie Boss) and Peter Romero (Regalramapleasure).
Moran said he was originally down to drive Franco Noriega, which finished second in the Albury Pacing Cup.
But his commitment to the Turnbull stable meant he took the reins on Itdontmattertome instead, which finished last.
