With Koschitzke unable to play in the Panthers’ final practice match against North Albury this weekend, the former St Kilda star said yesterday the scheduling was perfect for his preparation for the Ovens and Murray season.
His former St Kilda teammate Austinn Jones is the director of coaching at Cora Lynn.
“I had no hesitation when asked to help out Cora Lynn and support some of my good friends,” Koschitzke said.
“My season at Lavington starts the week later so it worked in perfectly.”
Cora Lynn will play arch rivals Nar Nar Goon in the round 1 blockbuster, with EDFL officials confident of drawing a record crowd for the 7pm showdown.
Coach Travis Marsham said the club was excited to have Koschitzke and Jones playing for the Cobras.
“This match will be a finals-type crowd,” he said.
“Our young playing list has the opportunity of playing and learning alongside Kosi and Aussie.
“It will be an invaluable experience and opportunity.
“We can’t wait.”
Koschitzke kicked two goals in Lavington’s practice match win against Benalla at Lavington Oval on Sunday and will play a key role in the Panthers’ premiership charge with fellow forward Adam Prior.
Coach James Saker was pleased with the hitout.
“It was a pretty good game of footy,” he said.
“There was a bit of heat in it and hopefully we will be better for the run.”
Meanwhile, Yarrawonga co-coach Brendan Fevola will play for Sandown Cobras against Lyndale in the Southern league on May 2.
The Pigeons have a bye due to the split round.
