But Easter and school holidays have proven a nightmare for many, with problems including the slashing of vehicle tyres.
One victim of the damage, Stacey Neilsen, is calling on Albury council to implement further security measures, including the installation of closed circuit television cameras and the provision of more security patrols.
Albury Council has responded to her initial concerns, citing the city’s decision to close the top deck of the car park overnight and the installation of traffic control.
But Ms Neilsen wants the council to take further action to restore people’s confidence in leaving their vehicles in the car park.
The provision of CCTV in the car park has been included as a draft proposal in the city’s four-year budget, but a decision still has to be made as to whether that will go ahead.
Police are working with the council to patrol the site daily, but obviously any measure to deter those who misbehave would be welcomed by all concerned.
