I WISH to draw your attention to what I see as a major blight on our game — opponents using “dirt” to nullify the skills of their opponent.

There are many instances in the past, but I will address the one most recent.
The deliberate driving of Gary Ablett into the ground on his left shoulder, thereby forcing him from the ground, is “dirt”.
It robbed the viewing public — the audience at the game and those watching at home — the potential brilliance of Ablett.
People often go to a game just to see a particular player.
Ablett is described as the best ever.
Is it justice to see him nullified by “dirt”?
I call on the AFL to acknowledge these facts and start to take action against this blight on our game for the sake of the viewing audience.
Much is at stake.
