In fact, in his time away from professional soccer he admits to doing a bit of part-time modelling.
The English midfielder, fresh from a 35-game season with league-winning Salford City, is now training with Murray United ahead of the transfer window opening on Monday week.
Dunn, 26, said the move to Australia was a tough call made easier by the honesty of fellow Englishman and United visa player James Coutts.
“Both he and Pedro Afonso were really honest with me,” he said.
“They told me it was a first-year club, without some of the facilities I might be used to but with a vision for the future.”
Dunn’s former club is best known for the involvement of the Manchester United five — Phillip Neville, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs — who bought into the club last year with the dream of progressing to the EPL in 15 years.
The box-to-box midfielder said the Red Devils’ legends were regulars at training and games.
“They take sessions at the start of the year and at least one is at every game,” he said. “To be able to get tips from someone like Scholes — one of the best midfielders to play the game — was just incredible, while Phil Neville was really supportive of the shift to Australia.”
Dunn said he was itching to get back on the pitch.
“I’m training in the gym three mornings a week and with the lads on the park,” he said.
“It’s a month since I played but with the work I’m doing, I don’t think I’m too far off peak fitness.
“The lads look good at training, I’m expecting that it will be a pretty high standard.”
Murray United travel to Ballarat today to take on the Western conference Red Devils, with Dunn tagging along for the ride.
The Border’s NPL1 team is expected to take advantage of the transfer window from May 11 to 26 to bolster its list.
Technical director Paul Millynn said yesterday they had been inviting players eligible to play senior, under-20 and under-18 soccer to trial for the mid-season registration window.
“There are several players who have contacted us about switching to the premier league and we’re happy to look at anyone,” he said.
