The $75,000 play area at Hilltop opened on Saturday features a playground, books, games and gaming consoles.
It was two years in the planning through the efforts of the Fight Cancer Foundation in partnership with the Rotary Club of Albury North, Lions District 201V6 and the Zonta Club of Albury Wodonga.
Fight Cancer Foundation managing director Eric Wright said the playground would be an added comfort for families.
“It is a wonderful new area and will alleviate some of the stress for parents of having to provide constant supervision of their children, enabling everyone to cope better with the trauma and challenge of illness and ongoing treatments,” Mr Wright said.
Hilltop manager Helen Murray said the community needed to be thanked for making it possible.
“The difficulties beforehand were that when you have sick people staying, it is hard to keep kids quiet,” Ms Murray said.
