While no mighty Angus came trotting through the doors at IGA, the Bondi Vet wasn’t let down when he was met with an influx of fans.
After a few delays and setbacks early in the day, Brown eventually made it to the supermarket just before 5pm.
He said his visit to the regional town brought him a little closer to his favourite four-legged beast.
“Weirdly my favourite animal is probably a cow, I grew up around a lot of cows and showed them at shows. Living in Bondi, I don’t get much of a chance to see them,” Brown said.
The stop-off was a chance for Brown to meet people.
He said it wasn’t his first time in the region and he hoped to see familiar faces.
“I’ve done a lot of vet work back a few years ago around this area, that’s the only time I have really been through here,” he said.
“I’m always amazed at what people ask, I had someone sneak a kangaroo into one of the stores in Adelaide on Tuesday to get my opinion on something, it appeared out of a bag.
“It’s nice to get out and talk to people about their pets, no matter where you are there are people who care for their animals and every has a very different relationship with their pets so that’s what I really enjoy hearing.”
Supa IGA Corowa won a visit from the celebrity vet through a display competition run by Mars Petcare.
Brown was visiting as the Optimum pet food ambassador.
Aspiring vet Brianna Henman, 18 was quick to get in for a photo and some advice.
She said she asked Brown what he wished he had have been told before he started working with animals.
“He told me it was challenging balancing the emotional side of animals because you do form connections with them,” she said.
Store owner Craig Waldron said it was good to see so many people embrace the visit.
