The Beatles Festival Albury ran from Friday to Sunday at The Commercial Club where people of all ages took to the dance floor to celebrate the iconic music group.
Cover band The Beatlez brought the stage to life with their colourful silk costumes, a la the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album over.
Scott McCarthy, who channels John Lennon, said the band had returned for its fifth year with a new drummer and a new name — it previously was known as The Melbeats.
“We use authentic instruments and Vox amps so that our sound can be as close to the original Beatles as possible,” McCarthy said.
“Their music is timeless.
“Everyone knows a Beatles tune, it doesn’t matter what age you are.
“This Albury weekend is a fantastic festival and, as far as we know, it is the only one in Australia dedicated to the Beatles.
“It is definitely one of the highlights on our calendar.”
Beatle Magic opened the festival on Friday night and Saturday’s show was kicked off by The Fab Four.
It had no trouble getting the audience up dancing and singing.
Sisters, Kathy and Vera Agnello, and Vera’s husband, Joe, travelled from Melbourne to take in their fourth dose of non-stop Beatles.
The three were the first to step onto the dancefloor, dressed in Beatles-inspired outfits.
Kathy said driving up for the weekend was easy because they all loved the Beatles and this was a great weekend.
“We’ve been fans since we were kids. Their music never dies,” she said.
“I like the old stuff like Twist and Shout and Mr Postman.”
Mr Agnello said they also appreciated the cover bands and the characters they played.
“The Beatles style was so unique — it was different for the time,” Mr Agnello said.
