Officers searched a house on McFarland Road on June 18 over an unrelated burglary that was carried out in May.
They recovered four jewellery boxes, two gold watches, a Tiffany bracelet and rings and are unsure who they belong to.
One of the jewellery boxes has the name “Margaret Rose” on the base, and foreign coins and notes from a range of countries were also found.
Detective Acting Sergeant Ian Deverell said the items were believed to have been stolen from the Border region.
“We’re trying to find where the items are from and return them to their rightful owner,” he said.
While some of the items are expensive, many are only of sentimental value.
“It’s not so much the money value, more the fact they appear to be family heirlooms,” he said.
“They’re things you can’t replace.
“They would mean a lot to whoever they belong to.”
Some of the jewellery is gold and several pieces contain pearls.
“We’re appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward,” Acting Sergeant Deverell said.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with handling stolen goods, possessing a prohibited weapon and other offences following last month’s raid.
He has been bailed and will appear before Wodonga Magistrates Court at a later date.
Anyone with information can phone Wodonga police on (02) 6049 2600.
