Falls Creek’s Anthony O’Shea said this promised to be the start of a good couple of weeks for snowlovers.
Mr O’Shea said today’s falls “should set us up” for a cold front that was forecast to bring “significant snowfall through next weekend”.
“There is snow in the forecast for 12 of the next 14 days, and all the weather models and forecasting sites are starting to talk about this as the storm that sets us up for the season.”
Mr O’Shea said the resort’s snowmakers had done “an amazing job” in the early weeks of the season, making enough snow to open some of the most popular runs.
“And there are thousands of people here enjoying the school holidays and some really fun skiing and snowboarding,” he said.
“The Kids Snowsports School and our new adult programs have been especially popular.”
Mr O’shea said the resort would open another lift today, taking the total to six.
More lifts and runs were expected to open with the predicted falls and continued snowmaking.
