The Victorian Government has kicked in $10,000, announced by member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes yesterday.
She said a new Myrtleford farmers’ epicurean market would capture the European heritage of the region, engage the local community and attract visitors.
The closure of the tobacco industry had a significant impact on the Myrtleford community and agriculture in the area, and planning for a new farmers' market would provide local farmers with new income streams and retail opportunities.
The funding will be provided to local co-operative TAFCO Rural Supplies which, with a membership base of more than 500 local producers, has the capability to conduct an effective audit of potential stall holders.
