LEGENDARY Border sporting administrator Des Kennedy last night had another honour bestowed upon him when he was one of five people inducted into the Hume Football League's inaugural Hall of Fame.

Kennedy, who spent 31 years as secretary of the league before passing away in 1992, was recognised with fellow long-time officials Garry O'Connell, Merv Wegener, Lindsay Norman and Peter Carroll.
The former Walla identity is a life member of the league, with the best-on-ground medal awarded in his honour on grand final day each year.
Former Walla president Russell Milne once summed up the Order of Australia Medal recipient's contribution best.
“They say that no one is indispensable – but Des must be the closest you can get,” Milne said.
O'Connell served as president of the league from 1983 to 1999 and was a long-serving player and official at Osborne.
Wegener played 302 matches for Walla and is the incumbent Hume league president.
He spent 22 years as vice-president of the Hume league before stepping into the top position 16 years ago.
Norman played 200 matches with Daysdale from 1955 to 1969 and then turned his attention to officialdom, serving 32 years as secretary/treasurer of the Coreen league before it merged with the Hume league in 2007.
Carroll won four consecutive CDFL Archie Dennis Medals (1967-70) and eight best and fairests in a 370-match career for Coreen and later spent 18 years as president of the league.
