The side went zero from three at the Konica Cup in Canberra, but the incoming Tallangatta coach said the Robbie Jackson-coached team had plenty of upside.
“We certainly learned a lot from the trip to Canberra,” Ball said.
“But in a lot of ways it was the perfect preparation for the game this Sunday.”
Former Albury star Cade Brown will play as one of three marquee players allowed in the side.
Brown is currently playing for Weston Creek in the ACT, with English import Jethro Menzies and former Holbrook and Lavington star Steve Taylor rounding out the star trio.
“It'll be great to have Cade in the side for this series,” Ball said.
“He's obviously a quality player and he'll bring a lot to the side.”
Lavington's Nathan Brown has been selected after impressing in the Konica series, and is one of four under-age players each side is required to select for each game.
“There were a few players who played themselves into the side for this weekend,” Ball said.
“Nathan was really impressive, he did well both with the bat and the ball.”
Jack Craig will join Ryan de Vries and Nick Morris as the remaining under-21 players after returning from a stint in England.
Belvoir recruit Matt Jaensch impressed with the ball in his first representative outing for his new league, after crossing from Nathalia.
Ball said every player was getting advice and feedback from coach Jackson in the lead up to the game at Bilson Park.
“Robbie's mantra has been making sure everyone is open and honest,” he said.
“He wants us to really express ourselves and try a few things with the way we play.
“We've got a bit of work to do to really gel as a group, especially with some guys playing their first rep game.
“Training has been really good for the last few weeks now, it's different to a lot of the stuff we've done previously.
“The results we had from the Canberra trip were disappointing, but at the same time I thought we were pretty competitive.
“We'll go into the game on Sunday with plenty of excitement, hopefully we'll get a good crowd and hit a few balls to them.”
Ball's Border Bullets will face the powerful Southern Riverina Vipers at Bilson Park on Sunday, starting from 2pm.
