Lyme-like disease has made its way on to the political agenda after the senate agreed to hold an inquiry into a tick-borne illness with similar symptoms.
Independent Senator for Victoria John Madigan was the driving force behind the motion and was supported unopposed on November 12.
Among seven items in the terms of reference, the inquiry will aim to determine how far spread the disease is and reduce stigma among patients, doctors and researchers.
Submissions should be made by March 31 and The Community Affairs References Committee will finish a report by June 20 next year.
Lyme Disease Association of Australia vice president Jennifer Sherer said sufferers, carers or anyone with an interest in the topic are encouraged to have a say.
The association is offering assistance with Submissions at www.lymedisease.org.au.
