No worries.
At least after four rounds anyway.
Despite undergoing a major change of personnel, the St Patrick’s line-up has won three of their opening four matches to be set up for more finals action.
Skipper Kane Arendarcikas said the emergence of Matt Crawshaw, Sam Stewart, Cooper Page, Tylar Young and Kori Stevenson had been vital.
“It’s a pretty different side to last year’s preliminary final team isn’t it?,” Arendarcikas said.
“It hasn’t felt like it though.
“In one way it’s a shame to lose experienced players at once, but on the other hand we have brought in players who have had a taste of it.
“We made it pretty clear at the start of the year that with the seconds winning the flag we needed to start giving opportunities to players like Matt Crawshaw and Tommy Ellwood or we could lose them.
“They have taken their chances.”
St Patrick’s has had another bonus along the way with paceman Jarryd Hatton returning from Melbourne.
Restall is yet to play this season but will return in second grade against East Albury on Saturday.
“We are trying to get his season going,” Arendarcikas said.
“He’s had a wedding and work commitments and hopefully he will have a clear run coming up.
“Our season was always going to depend on how quickly players came on this season and so far, so good.
“The boys have stepped up when they had to.”
St Patrick’s will start hot favourites against East Albury at Xavier Oval on Saturday.
“East Albury is a bit like us as they have had a fair turnover of players,” he said.
“We certainly respect them as a club.
“Our form has been good but you have to be ready to go each week.”
