A pondage pet walk, sponsored weight loss, a dinner and auction and a pancake morning all contributed to the total.
The Mount Beauty and District Bendigo Community Bank organised the project and presented a cheque for $12,800 to Peta McRae of Wodonga Dog Rescue.
Mount Beauty and District Bendigo Community Bank branch manager Shelley Maher said the fundraiser was held in memory of a community stalwart.
“Col Wilson, who supported the rescue service and whose recent death saddened the community in which he had been so involved for so many years,” she said.
Rain and cold wind did not stop owners and pets enjoying the walk around Mount Beauty pondage.
In other activities, one community bank staff member decided to lose a little weight and sought sponsorship to keep her focused.
Roi Rigoni and Sue White, of Roi’s Diner Restaurant in Tawonga made their premises available for a dinner and auction of donated prizes while the proprietors of the Mount Beauty Holiday Centre held a pancake breakfast morning and donated the proceeds.
The board of directors of Kiewa Mitta Murray Community Enterprises Limited, which operates the community bank, covered all expenses so every cent raised could be donated to the rescue service.
