Through a shaky voice, she pleaded for people to stop jumping out of trees into the river.
“I have experienced every parent's worst nightmare,” Jessica Melbourne said.
“I didn't know Gypsy was at the river yesterday.
“I saw an ambulance at the tree a lot of kids jump out of, so we walked over to make sure it wasn’t anyone we knew.
“Someone told us Gypsy was there, we thought she was with the injured person.
“She had fallen five metres from the tree onto hard roots.
“Paramedics said it was like hitting concrete because she had fallen from so high.”
After X-rays, CT scans and an MRI, medical staff believe Gypsy Harmer fractured her spine.
It won't be until the results of the MRI come back when they will be able to determine the full extent of her injuries.
Ms Melbourne said it was 6.30pm Sunday at Oddies Creek Park when the nightmare unfolded.
“It took six men to get her out because it's quite a steep embankment,” she said.
Ms Melbourne revisited the tree on Monday and said people were still jumping out of it.
She wanted people to realise it could happen to them.
“It has definitely taught her a lesson, but a shame it had to come to this for her to realise,” Ms Melbourne said.
“It’s ridiculous and it's not worth the risk.
“I've had this discussion with Gypsy and several of her friends on numerous occasions and I thought it was getting through to them.
“But I guess the fact they've done it 100 times before and nothing has happened, they think it's fine.
“I want everyone to see this and to stop doing it.
“She is not allowed to move, eat or do anything, but Gypsy is really lucky, it could have been a lot worse.
“If she landed the wrong way, she could’ve broken her back - it can happen to you.”
Close friend Joshua Burles, 15, said he was heartbroken.
“Gypsy is an adventurous girl and the fact that she is unable to move for a while, is absolutely heart breaking,” he said.
Another friend Jayda Latcham, 15, agreed.
“I hope she gets better very soon, I love her so much,” she said.
