Squads from across Victoria and NSW are converging for the La Trobe University Junior Invitational Tournament, beginning on Friday.
A total of 2500 people are expected to visit the region for the three-day event, including a contingent of over 60 referees.
The tournament is expected to inject roughly $1,000,000 into the local economy, with local accommodation heavily booked.
Tournament coordinator Nic Conway said it would be a great opportunity for the Border's best prospects to develop their game.
“Hopefully the kids playing this weekend will eventually make their way through the Wolves, Big V and maybe even the Bandits,” he said.
“We get a few more teams from Wagga and Tumut because we're a bit more central, plus teams from Echuca, Bendigo, you name it.”
There'll be some added excitement with the Country Basketball League finals to be held in Wodonga on Saturday night as well.
