Whether it be here in Wodonga or in Swan Hill, teams from across Victoria and New South Wales flock to the tournament, be it for the competition or simply for the fun of it.
But you'd be hard pressed to find any teams who travelled as far as Gay Povey's squad, all the way from Mandurah, Western Australia.
One 3602 kilometre flight later, Povey and co are ready to rumble on the grass courts.
“It the first time here for all of us, but we’ll be bringing people back next year,” Povey said.
“A friend of my sister who has been playing the tournament for a few years suggested we give it a go, and we’re really enjoying it.
“We’ve already spoken to a few ladies back home who said they’re very interested in coming along next time.
“We could use them, it’s just the four of us and the teams are made of eight.”
Despite having travelled so far, Povey said there were plenty of links to home at the week-long competition. “It’s amazing how many people will ask if you know so-and-so from Mandurah,” she told The Border Mail.
“We haven’t found a common thread with anyone yet, but I think it’s only a matter of time.”
