Chasing 190 for victory over Yarrawonga-Mulwala, Wilson said the total was well within reach.
“We were pretty happy to keep them to 190 in the end, they were at 1/82 at one stage,” he said.
“I think it’s definitely something we can chase, we just need to bat out the day.
“Unfortunately, that’s something we haven’t been able to do up until now.
“We need to put our heads down, we can't go into the finals not having batted for a full day this season.”
Wilson said the second-placed United would need to tone down their natural aggression.
“We’ve gone a bit too hard too early in recent weeks, we’ve been going after the wrong balls,” he said.
“If we’re in a strong position before tea then we can really try and put the foot down, as long as we have the wickets in hand.”
Elsewhere, Ovens Valley need 84 to defeat Wangaratta Magpies, Beechworth should defeat Benalla/Violet Town and Corowa have their work cut out against Benalla.
We need to put our heads down, we can't go into the finals not having batted for a full day this season.
