Having a criminal record, tattoos and missing teeth, I feel well credentialed to call myself a Collingwood fan and was thrilled to hear they were coming to the Border for a promo visit. But hang on, so did the Kangas, Hawks and Tigers.
My mob, the Roos and the reigning premiers provided for their fans six players in total. Two from each of the three clubs. Thanks guys, but for me the Tigers get the chocolates.
The whole bloody team turned up and was happy to mingle, sign stuff and pose for photos. What a fine bunch they are. Good luck this year Tiges and thanks for giving fans what they want.
Go Pies.

Medicinal cannabis legal
AS both a doctor and a pharmacist, I write to congratulate the Andrews government on legalising cannabis for medicinal use.
Health professionals have been investigating cannabis since at least 1985. The enormous benefits and safety of cannabis used medically are well known.
This important legislation should be adopted by the federal government. I will certainly push for this if I am elected.

Art does not come cheap
I WATCHED the local news last week, about MAMA's art museum, welcoming children during the school holidays, to involve them into art.
It looked great and kids looked very happy.
On top of that they were provided lunch and maybe a snack too.
That was what the news said: it could be something that kids could do to keep busy during the holidays.
I thought that was very good. Until my daughter mentioned it cost $50.
Huh? I checked it out on the MAMA website, and yes, five- to eight-year-old cost $50 per child per day, 10:30am to 3pm. Wow.
How many 'average wage' families can afford that when they might have three or four children? Isn't childcare cheaper?
I know lunch is included in the $50 but, what is a five-, six-, seven- or eight-year-old going to eat? Fairy bread, fruits, sausage rolls and party pies?
It is very good that MAMA, the art museum, wants to teach kids art, but Albury spent $14 million dollars to build MAMA, so I think it would have been nice and deserving to give free art camp to the Albury kids during these holidays. This is my opinion only.

Musical copyright
I’VE been a muso for many years and after all this time I think copyright should be abolished as far as music is concerned.
A certain publishing company made a small windfall out of Men At Work's Down Under as they copyrighted Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree which was not even their composition.
Down Under starts in B minor Kookaburra starts in D maj, the scale is the same but the intonation is different. People who are not musicians should never have the power to pass judgement on others who are.
And as for this latest fiasco with Led Zeppelin is anyone aware of how many different interpretations of songs in A minor there are or have been available.
For Spirit to even suggest that Led Zeppelin copied the Taurus interpretation of a chord sequence that has been around for 200 years or possibly more is laughable.
And yet, I suppose we'll get some self-opinionated judge who has no or little experience in music pass judgement. These people should not be allowed to pass judgement on musical matters – they are not qualified.
