Formerly of Balranald, Barrett is friends with Raiders livewire Jydon Neagle and will play in the Ovens and Murray when free of VFL commitments.
He has played four matches for the Northern Blues’ development side this season, featuring in the best against Steve Murray’s Port Melbourne on April 23.
Barrett, who turns 20 on Tuesday, could also play for the Raiders in rounds 14 and 17, against Wodonga and Myrtleford, with the Northern Blues having a bye.
The Raiders’ clash with North Albury on May 28 will have a major bearing on the make-up of the top five with Wangaratta Rovers and Myrtleford making inroads on last year’s finalists.
Skipper Jack Di Mizio (groin) and versatile big man Dean Heta (back) will return on Saturday when the Raiders take on the Saints at McNamara Reserve.
