Murray made the most of Port Melbourne’s VFL bye to make a superb return to John Flower Oval in the Bulldogs’ 21.10 (136) to 9.13 (67) victory.
The Bulldogs set up the win with an eight-goal-to-three third quarter as McKye Turner overcame an early case of the yips to also finish with five majors.
“We defended really well and the boys moved the footy a lot better, especially after half-time when we were a lot cleaner,” Wodonga coach Dean Harding said.
“'Muz' was terrific. He kicked five and probably created another four or five.”
The only sour note for the Bulldogs was a knee injury to Tom Johnson.
North Albury’s chances were dealt a blow before the game with Jason Akermanis and Rory Feltwell withdrawing from the Hoppers’ side.
