Missing stars Ellie Junod and Molly Lewis, the visitors kept pace with the Spectres in the first quarter but fell away in the second, outscored 21 to 11.
It was a different story in the second half, with the two teams going to to toe.
The Lady Bandits outscored the Spectres in the final 10 minutes but it ultimately wasn't to be, going down 80-67.
Lepaio finished with 20 points and 19 rebounds, while Steph Gorman (13) and Alex Ciabatonni (14) also impressed.
Coach Jim Wilson was pleased with the performance, but said his team was tired of hearing about gallant losses.
“There's depth in the squad now, the girls really hung in there,” he said.
“But it's disappointing to have lost again, the girls really want to break through and make an impact.”
