Kellys will officially become part of Mitre 10 on June 1 after starting out in Wodonga in 2007 selling rural supplies following the closure of the Mann Mitre 10 business after its sale to Bunnings.
It began on the former Mann site in South Street before relocating to premises in Hovell Street.
Kellys moved to Melbourne Road three years into a building, which ironically, was a Mitre 10 store up until 2010.
Managing director Adrian Kelly said the company had almost come a full circle.
"We've been looking to developing into a Mitre 10 for a number of years," he said.
"Customer demand and market demand for an alternative to Bunnings helped clarify the decision for us."
Staffing will increase from existing levels of 14 of permanent and casuals to about 20.
Opening hours will stay the same before expanding to Sundays in spring.
The Mann site is still awaiting council approval to restart development.
