Dickson hasn’t played since he was injured early in the Panthers’ round eight win over Yarrawonga and will see a specialist in Melbourne for a scan on Friday.
Lavington coach James Saker said Dickson, who is an osteopath, wouldn’t take any risks with his ankle.
“It would be fairly doubtful he will get back,” he said.
“It’s probably one of those things where he could rush to get back and then have six to 12 months of more hassle with it.
“We will have to wait and see but he certainly won’t be playing anytime soon.”
Compounding Saker’s problems, seasoned campaigners John Hunt and Matt Pendergast will miss Saturday’s clash with Albury at the Albury Sportsground.
Hunt is away with work while Pendergast will miss with a sore hamstring as he manages his body for the future.
Meanwhile, Yarrawonga star Tim Cooper is set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his injured AC joint on Thursday.
Cooper had a plate inserted after being injured in the early stages of the Pigeons’ loss to the Tigers and Pigeons co-coach Chris Kennedy said the prolific ball-winner was unlikely to play again this year.
“More than likely that’s the case, he’s treating it as a season-ending injury but if he didn’t get the plate put in he would be no chance at all,” he said.
Brad O’Connor has also dropped out of the Pigeons’ side to face Wangaratta Rovers at W.J. Findlay Oval on Saturday with the burly forward travelling to the US for a month.
O’Connor will also miss matches against Wodonga Raiders and Wangaratta for the second-placed Pigeons.
The Pigeons got a boost at the selection table with seasoned campaigners Xavier Leslie and Marcus McMillan returning from injury to take on the Hawks.
