“Winter feed shortages can be addressed in a number of ways including applying nitrogen and gibberellic acid to our pastures to boost the winter growth of the grasses,” Grassland’s Albury-Wodonga president Peter Murdoch said.
The field day, backed by Holbrook Landcare, is at OSO Arabians, Knox Road, and speakers include Phil Glover, Sumitomo, Gunnedah, who will explain the use of gibberellic acid to increase winter growth.
Mr Glover said ProGibb containing gibberellin GA3 was used from late autumn to early spring to increase the dry matter production of predominantly grass-based pastures by up to 60 per cent in just three weeks. “Many growers are excited that they can turn maintenance pasture into fattening pasture in the middle of winter,” he said.
