With Bacchus Marsh having the bye in the Ballarat league, Cupido has reached a one-off agreement to line-up with former North Albury teammate Joel Price at the Spiders.
Cupido started the season as coach of Airport West before joining the Travis Hodgson-coached Bacchus Marsh.
He has had two 10-goal hauls since joining the club.
“’Cupes’ made a really big impact in his first few games for us by kicking a couple of bags,” Hodgson said.
“He’s been receiving a lot of attention from opposition teams by getting their best defender and we have been using him up the ground as well over the past few weeks.”
The 34-year-old played 53 AFL matches for Brisbane Lions and Essendon between 2000 and 2005.
Price said Cupido’s appearance would be handy with Howlong forwards Ryan Cannon (knee) and Alex Dilger and Dion Munkara (unavailable) out of action.
Munkara has returned to the Northern Territory with the Spiders hopeful of him returning in coming weeks.
“I played with ‘Cupes’ at North Albury in 2010 when Travis Hodgson was coaching and it will be great to get him for a game,” he said.
“He’s the best kick of the footy I have played with.
“The only person who comes close is Craig Ednie.
“We have a few missing from our forward-line so that skill and experience is going to be handy against Billabong Crows on Saturday.
“He’s been kicking goals for Bacchus Marsh and it’s good we could work something out.”
Cupido is best remembered on the Border for his matchwinning 10-goal haul against Wodonga Raiders at Albury Sportsground in the 2010 first semi-final.
The performance came a week after the Hoppers lost to Yarrawonga by 105 points.
