Premiership player Bob Murray and former coach Ken Sheldon will be special guests at the the group of Border-based St Kilda supporters’ 20-year reunion at Wodonga Bowling Club on Saturday.
Albury-Wodonga Saints secretary Donna Francis said the group started by Gerard Spence in 1996, had outlasted supporter groups in the region from some of the AFL’s biggest clubs.
“Many of us are still friends after 20 years and our children have gone from babies to kids to adults, some with their own families,” she said.
The group has about 25 current members who travel to home games in Melbourne on bus or train.
St Kilda has played in four grand finals, for three losses and draw, since the group formed and Francis said the Saints were on the right track under Alan Richardson.
“Hopefully next year we have to book one or two buses for September,” she said.
