Tumut station manager John Larter raised the alarm last week, claiming NSW Ambulance refused to provide staff at Tumbarumba, Tumut and Batlow with snow-appropriate uniforms.
Their former winter gear had fallen apart, after 20 years of use.
He said paramedics faced the possibility of entering freezing conditions in standard issue uniforms – a poly-blend shirt and jacket – the same as those worn in Sydney.
NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner said, on Tuesday, new uniforms would be issued.
“From tomorrow (Wednesday), paramedics based at Tumut, Batlow and Tumbarumba will receive cold weather uniforms,” she said. “Other stations in the NSW southern sector also have access to cold weather gear, including all-purpose coats, polar fleeces, boots and thermal underwear.”
