The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting highs of 11 degrees on Thursday, gradually increasing to 16 degrees by Sunday. 

Senior forecaster Keris Arndt said snow had been recorded down to 300 metres. 

“There have been some quite damaging wind gusts,” he said. 

“We often get some pretty strong cold fronts each year. 

“This one is not too unusual in that sense.” 

Mr Arndt said strong winds were mainly recorded on Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

“Many parts in the south of Victoria that don’t normally see snow had snow on Tuesday night and Wednesday,” he said. 

“The worst of it is over. 

“It’s basically a warming trend from now on.” 

Mr Arndt said that Falls Creek had recorded a low of minus 7.5 degrees and Mt Hotham minus 8 degrees during the cold snap.
