About 100 people are expected to attend the day-long event at the Albury Entertainment Centre, with guest speakers to cover topics such as profitability, industry innovations, diseases and grazing management and the path ahead.
“The main concern for the processing sector will be the availability of livestock and in particular livestock that meet key customer specifications both here and overseas,” John Langbridge, of Teys Australia, said.
Mr Langbridge, who will present a session about meat processing innovations, said the industry must evolve to remain competitive on the international market.
“The red meat industry must transform from what once was essentially a commodity trading model to one where an increasing proportion of the product is sold under proprietary brands,” he said. The conference starts at 8.45am.
