A blaze broke out at the Cressy Street business about 6.30am on Wednesday and took about an hour to bring under control.
Fire and Rescue NSW Inspector Stewart Alexander said while goods inside the business were damaged, the building appeared to be structurally safe.
“Importantly, all the adjoining properties were saved as well,” he said.
“Most of the stock is probably written off but the structure is reasonably sound.
“The firefighters did a fantastic job.
“They saved the building.”
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Inspector Alexander said forensic police would investigate in a bid to determine the cause.
Large plumes of smoke and fire had been coming from the building as firefighters arrived.
The road had to be closed to traffic as emergency services attended the scene.
“It took about an hour to extinguish,” Inspector Alexander said.
