The Albury word celebration is marking its 10th anniversary with the theme of Unsettling the Story – Memories and Imagination.
Co-ordinator Ann-Maree Ellis said the festival had grown steadily over the decade with more than 5000 participants having attended 60 activities last year.
“You never know what could happen by attending Write Around the Murray,” Ms Ellis said.
“Fleur Ferris attended a festival mentoring session with a publisher back in 2012, got a contract, is now a published author, part of our schools program and will feature in our Publish Me! event on the festival's final day.”
Former Border Mail journalist Barrie Cassidy, who is from Chiltern, will speak on the festival’s opening night on Wednesday, September 7.
The host of ABC television’s Insiders political review wrote a biography of his father, Private Bill: In Love and War, which was published in 2014.
Television drama writer Debra Oswald, who penned the popular Offspring drama featuring actor Asher Keddie, will chat about her novel Useful with literary journalist Jason Steger.
Diary of a Wombat author Jackie French will focus on gardening, seasonal produce and native wildlife with a talk at Hovell Tree Park’s wood fired oven.
Write Around the Murray, which will run from September 7 to 11, will be officially launched at the Albury Library Museum on Friday.
Hip hop poets Omar Musa and Philly will be guests.
Write Around the Murray will launch its 10th festival with a rush of words from hip hop poets Omar Musa and Philly at the LibraryMuseum on Friday at noon.
Musa has won poetry slam contests and his debut novel Here Come the Dogs was nominated for the Miles Franklin Literary Award.
Philly received the 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards new talent of the year prize and did a cover of Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds on triple j’s Like a Version.
