The former Albury star and West Wyalong junior has made it through to the final episode of the TV show and hasn’t been in the bottom three throughout the eight episodes to date.
Goodwin said he had made “a mess” of his first opportunity to make it in the NRL and a second chance would be life-changing.
“It means everything,” he said.
“I made a mess of my chance at making it in the NRL. I was signed for the Roosters but I’d never lived in the city and I had lost my driving licence and was working full-time, training and captaining the Roosters U20’s and doing it all on public transport.
“I got myself into a bad head-space and needed to get back to the country. I’m older and wiser and ready to give it another go.”
The live final of The NRL Rookie is on Channel Go! at 7.30pm Tuesday.
