Excitement is building among staff as they begin to receive training at the new complex.
Tours for cancer patients and survivors will be held towards the end of August, before an official opening in November. Operations director of cancer services Robyn Gillis said most of the furniture was in.
“We are moving in all the essential equipment; commissioning phones and computers and Ramsay Health is installing its equipment,” she said.
“The community have supported this project for many years, so the tours are a really good opportunity for people to see the first-class centre that has been built.”
Albury Wodonga Health has extended an invitation to cancer survivors and battlers to take a sneak-peek inside the building.
Tours will run every 10 minutes on August 25 from 8am to 11am and on August 27 from 10am to 3pm.
Meanwhile, several fundraising events will also be held in the lead-up to the launch.
Sunshine Week kicks-off on September 11, encouraging community groups to host events. The Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund urged people to contribute by holding “low key morning teas” at their place of work, school or at their sporting club.
“Bring a gold coin donation and a plate to share and make a genuine difference to local people going through the cancer journey,” a spokeswoman said.
A family fun day will be held on September 11 followed by a charity golf day on September 16.
