Fundraisers in the form of movies, high teas, dances and golf days have helped them reach almost $77,000 – but there is still more to go.
Ella's parents, Belinda Taylor and Nick Morgan, began the journey to help their daughter hear again at the beginning of the year.
The Albury Public School student was born with microtia atresia, the under development of the outer ear.
They set out with the goal of raising $110,000 for major surgery – an end that is now in sight.
“It's all going really well,” said Ms Taylor.
“Our ladies high tea took our total to $76,595.
“If the US dollar stays steady, we now have less than $29,000 to go.
“There's only three months until her surgery date, November 10, and we are working day and night to raise those funds.”
The surgery was something Ella said she was excited about, but nervous to have.
She helped out with some of the fundraisers and said she couldn't wait to “have the gift of hearing”.
Ms Taylor said they had organised nine more events to take place before the end of October.
Ella's class will hold a bake sale on Tuesday, followed by Ms Taylor's clay jewellery sale at the Little Me Market on Sunday. For more information, visit ellasear.com.
