The 38-year-old man answered the door of his Kotthoff Street home in Lavington about 7.15pm Tuesday and was confronted by two people wearing bandannas.
They allegedly demanded cash, jewellery and drugs and pushed him over as they searched the house.
They stole cash, laptops and other electronic items.
Albury Inspector Scott Russell said the man escaped major harm, suffering an injury to the hand and grazing.
“He was uninjured but obviously distressed,” he said.
“It’s an incident that alarms us and we’re seeking the assistance of the community to help us identify the people described.”
Police want to question a Caucasian male with short brown hair and another person, possibly female, with a long, light-brown pony tail.
Both were wearing dark clothes at the time.
