The sales cadet, at Alessi Automotive Group Albury, said it was a “very personal” event for her.
She encouraged everyone to buy a Relay for Life raffle ticket to support the Cancer Council.
“Personally I know people who have had cancer,” Miss Goodsell said.
“So knowing my workplace supports these kinds of things is really important.
“It brings the community together to show support.
“That’s why Alessi is involved, because there are a lot of people in this area who we know are affected by cancer.”
Alessi Renault and the Commercial Club Albury are the major sponsors of the Border relay, which has grown over 14 years to become the biggest in Australia.
Almost $30,000 worth of prizes are on offer including a brand new 2016 Renault Clio Authentique.
This year’s event will be held on October 22 and 23 at Birallee Park, Wodonga.
Commercial Club general manager Jeff Duck said it was a significant weekend for the community.
“This one obviously touches a lot of families who have been affected by cancer and it’s an opportunity for us to support those people through this event,” he said.
About 82 teams have registered, raising more than $60,000.
Border Relay for Life chairman Carl Friedlieb encouraged people to get on board early.
“We have six other great prizes ranging from a $2000 gift voucher at Bing Lee, tinting at Tint A Car and Regent Cinemas vouchers,” he said.
“Money raised from the raffle goes directly towards individual team tallies.
“Raffle tickets are available for collection at team information nights, at Drummond Real Estate Albury or Tint a Car Wodonga.
“Being the biggest relay shows we get behind our own people.
“This year we are exploring the why – why do you relay?”
The next team information night will be held at the Commercial Club at 7pm Tuesday. For more information, visit fundraising.cancer.org.au/site/TR?fr_id=4145&pg=entry.
