The 21-year-old rocketed into calcuations after taking 54 wickets at 7.63 playing for CAW district club Kiewa last season.
He also made 92 runs at 46.
De Vries’ figures earned him a spot in the VCCL Team of the Year which was selected from statistically the best-performed players across the league’s eight country regions.
The team included six batsmen, an all-rounder, a wicket-keeper and four bowlers and was announced at the VCCL annual general meeting by president Warren Riches.
De Vries will play for Kiewa this season and will again be firmly on the radar of CAW representative selectors.
He won the district competition’s Cricketer of the Year last season.
Sean Taylor, who played in Kiewa’s A grade district premiership side last season, will coach the side with Shane Streeter the captain.
