The option, which would force the closure of Albury Swim Centre, hasn't been considered to date by the previous council which narrowed options to retaining Albury and Lavington pools or building an indoor complex at Lauren Jackson Sports Centre and retaining Albury only.
“Albury is a sleeping giant and can’t have enough top-class sporting facilities,” Mrs Spittal said.
“But we can’t have the major population centres to the north of the city, Lavington and Thurgoona, without easy access to a pool.
“Of course the federal and state governments have to come to the party with some funding.
“But we need facilities which can attract major events to Albury and bring with them large numbers of people.
“Bringing more tourism dollars to town is a high priority for me.”
Mrs Spittal runs transport company Albury Freight Distribution Centre which employs 40 staff and has 30 sub-contractors.
She is also an Albury Netball Association past president and life member and helped create the Albury-Wodonga women in chamber organisation six years ago.
Mrs Spittal was named the Albury electorate International Women’s Day Woman of the Year award in 2006.
“I'm pro-business and want to see Albury realise its full potential,” she said.
“The Bunnings development in East Albury, which is going to create a heap of jobs, is going to be fantastic.
“We need more of the same to happen in Albury.
“I've got a proven track record of working with a diverse range of people including men.”
Mrs Spittal ran on mayor Henk van de Ven's ticket at the 2012 at No.5, but has been elevated to No.2 for this election.
The poll is on Saturday and voting is compulsory.
