The Cats overcame some inaccurate kicking for goal early to run-out 13.14 (92) to 3.8 (26) victors.
“We missed a few early shots and at one stage I thought we might kick ourselves out of it,” coach Craig Douglas said.
“The boys responded really well though.”
Douglas has coached three reserve grade premierships and the victory eases the pain after the Cats went through last season undefeated before losing the grand final to Henty.
Centreman Sam Rutland led the way in the midfield while Declan Galvin, Sam O’Connell and Sam Gleeson also performed well.
“Sam Rutland was outstanding in the centre,” he said.
“He’s a class footballer and probably the best footballer at the club.
“He only played seven games in the seniors and had a lot of injury problems during the season.”
In the closest match of the day, Henty edged out Howlong by three points in the under-17s.
Mason Gilfillan was best afield for the Swampies.
Holbrook defeated Osborne by 26 points in the under-14s with Bailey Churchill starring.
