Detective Senior Constable Andrew Leonard said the 26-year-old and 12-year-old males were visibly shaken when reporting the crime.
Police believe four people in a red Holden Commodore pulled up beside the pair on Magnolia Crescent at 11.30pm Friday when one pulled out what victims said was a silver handgun.
“They didn’t know anyone in the car, it just pulled up beside them,” Detective Leonard said.
“The victims didn’t comply with the demands and managed to get away.”
The people in the car kept their faces in the shadows to prevent being identified.
“It’s being taken seriously by police, we don’t want that sort of thing around town,” he said.
Anyone with information on the attempted armed robbery or suspicious car is asked to contact Wodonga police on (02) 6049 2600.
